Grooming
Thornwood Veterinary Clinic offers dog grooming services that will keep your dog looking and feeling their best. Our experienced groomers provide a safe and clean environment for your dog. Learn more below.

Pamper Your Pet
Our pet groomer offers full service, all–breed dog grooming, and also some cat grooming. All dogs are groomed to AKC Standard (breed standard) or owner’s specifications, along with the groomer’s trained eye to help the owner decide which trim suits their dog’s body style and coat texture. Every effort will be made to speak with grooming clients at the time of drop-off to ensure that your pet is trimmed the way you expect. If you have a special request, photographs are a great option to ensure we know exactly what you’re looking for! In some instances, severe matting may require a shave, but this will be fully communicated prior to starting.
Each Dog Will Receive…
- Blow out/brush out/prep prior to bathing
- Blow drying by hand & occasional crate drying
- Standardized trimming (certain breeds only)
- Paw pads shaved and feet trimmed (certain breeds only)
- Breeds not needing trimming or shaving will be heavily de-shedded!
- Nail trimming or nail grinding (grinding done only when requested)
- Ear cleaning and ear hair removal (if necessary)
- Anal gland expression (if necessary)
Our groomer does NOT do hand-stripping.
Our Feline Friends…
Cat grooming can be arranged after a conversation with our groomer. We love friendly felines who get routine blowouts or even fancy lion cuts! Some cats do better with a bit of sedation on board. If you think your cat may be stressed by grooming, let’s talk about options with our veterinarian to make things as calm and stress-free as possible!
Recommended Upkeep
Our groomer prefers to see most of her clients on a 6-8 week basis. This ensures the pet is maintained properly in the desired trim. Waiting too long between grooms for most breeds can result in matting and possibly the need to be shaved. If minor matting occurs, our groomer may be able to de-matt as long as the stress and well-being of the pet are not at risk… AND if the pet can tolerate the process without being a hazard to itself or the groomer.
Pet Grooming Pricing
Pricing is dependent on the pet’s size, grooming needs, and temperament, but in general, baths are $45-65 for dogs, and full grooms range from $60-130+. For cats, full grooming with a bath, trim, and styling is $50+. Sedation, if needed, is additional. Please be aware that if your pet requires sedation and is NOT a patient of Thornwood, a physical exam is required to administer or prescribe medication.
